Soft life - Lifestyle photoshoot
Adulting is hard! Whether you are single, married with kids, no kids. S%*t is just hard! I’ve decided to embrace my soft girl era! You might be wondering what a soft girl era or soft life is? Soooooo let me break it down for you. Soft life, by definition, is a lifestyle of comfort and relaxation with MINIMAL challenges and stress. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?!? As a black woman, mother, daughter, wife, and resident strong friend, life can be not only hard but STRESSFUL as hell. I’m making it my point to survive this year, but I want to live, thrive, have fun, and celebrate life. When my client Mechell called and said she was interested in having a soft life shoot for her birthday! I was elated and got to work right away.
As with all my shoots, I started planning a mood board for our shoot. I say ours because I take what my client loves and mix it with what I love and deliver a custom shoot for them. The first step is the mood board. The mood board is the ultimate vibe check. It lets me see if my client and I are on the same page. I want them to show up on shoot day and not worry about a thing. I have a plan for every aspect of the shoot: wardrobe, makeup, hair, location, props; in the words of Shirley Caesar, “You name it, I got it.” If our visions are not aligned, we make tweaks right then and there to get on the same page!
Mechell arrived excited on the day of her shoot! After having a mini fashion of the wardrobe looks/options for her shoot. Mechell sat in my talented MUA’s La’Tasha Richards chair to have her makeup done. The vibe for this shoot is lounging around around the apartment on a maybe rainy sunday morning, in comfortable soft attire and enjoying the finer things in life. As I mentioned at the beginning of this blog, adulting is hard asf! Sometimes, you want to sit around and enjoy the finer things in life. You know, just taking it easy. Being soft, popping, bubbly, and relaxing. No loud noise, drama, chaos, or going out late if you don’t want to, “no” being a complete sentence. Doesn’t that sound lovely?! Here are a few photos from Mechell’s shoot.
Do you think we captured the vibe here?
